China Unicom and Tozed Kangwei Unlock New Opportunities Through eSIM Procurement Enablement
Date: 2026.09.30
Recently, during the 2026 China Unicom Partner Conference, China Unicom, together with GSMA and the eSIM IoT Technical Committee of the GIIC Alliance, officially launched the eSIM Procurement Enablement Initiative. The initiative introduces a dual model of market-based sales and targeted enablement, creating a one-stop eSIM procurement channel for manufacturers of smart devices and IoT terminals. Jiang Han, Vice President of Tozed Kangwei, was invited to attend the launch ceremony and join industry partners in witnessing this important milestone.

As eSIM technology expands from wearable devices to a broader range of connected applications, innovative products such as AI glasses, smart earbuds, robots, smart cockpits, and smart home devices are rapidly emerging. However, many small and medium-sized terminal manufacturers still face four major challenges in eSIM procurement: limited sourcing channels, difficulties in product selection and quality control, relatively high procurement costs, and insufficient technical support.
China Unicom's newly launched eSIM Procurement Enablement Initiative addresses these challenges by establishing a new “card provider–operator procurement–terminal manufacturer” supply channel, delivering five key benefits: broader selection, with support for multiple packaging options including SMD and WLCSP; faster delivery, with both online marketplace and ecosystem-based channels, enabling stable delivery within three weeks for qualified orders; enhanced quality, backed by China Unicom's centralized procurement quality-control system; cost efficiency, leveraging the purchasing scale of centralized procurement; and stronger support, with a first-contact responsibility mechanism and time-bound process management throughout the service lifecycle.
Building on this initiative, Tozed Kangwei will accelerate the integration of eSIM capabilities across its CPE, MiFi, and smart gateway product lines, enabling features such as instant connectivity upon startup, remote management, OTA upgrades, and flexible switching between multiple operators.
Looking ahead to the emerging “AI + eSIM” era of cloud-intelligent terminals, Tozed Kangwei will actively connect with China Unicom's open ecosystem, including standardized domestic eSIM card offerings, comprehensive technical support, and both domestic and international card resources. By working closely with card and chipset partners on debugging and compatibility testing, Tozed Kangwei will further ensure compatibility, reliability, and consistency in mass production, accelerating the deployment of eSIM-enabled intelligent connectivity across diverse terminal scenarios.
